Questions about CompaineThis is a featured page

Q: What are some of the reasons Compaine uses to try to disprove the statement that "A Few Big Companies are Taking Over the World's Media"? (kmartinez)

A: Compaine says that "Media companies have indeed grown over the past 15 years, but this growth should be understood in context. Developed economies have grown, so expanding enterprises are often simply standing still in relative terms. (Pg. 98)." (schilmeran)

Q: What would Compaine say about Aufderheide's comment that "'Allowing AT&T to have closed access would be just one more step in the homogenization of the information industry (Pg. 105).?'" (schilmeran)

A: Compaine believes just the opposite. He believes that "stricter regulation of media is [not] int he public interest" (Pg. 101) and that it is unethical to allow corporations such as AT&T to have closed access to the internet. (cellis)
