Q - Do you think websites such as eHarmony.com will ultimately be successful in helping people to find "true love" and continue to be as popular as they currently are? (murban)

A: "True love" is a term that can be interpreted many ways. If it is to be defined as compatibility, yes, eHarmony.com will continue helping people and be just as popular. It helps people find those they can be most compatible with through searches that target people who have the specific qualities you are searching for. Dating is no longer a form of sorting out the good from the bad, it is to get to know the sorted ones. (ijoshi)

A - As web communications become ever more normalized relationships will stem from all that use.

A2: I think a lot of that will depend on the outcome of the current "true love" relationships that eHarmony.com has claimed to put together. If these relationships really do stand the test of time and last for life, I think the number of people using the site and other dating sites will increase. However if these relationships are based on some preconceived notions that "this will be my true love" and so is the only reason it is working temporarily than that will definitely deter people in the future. (kmartinez)

A3: Yes I do think that online dating can be succesful tool for dating in certain cases. As we understand more about the human mind and human behavior we can better predict what behavior would lead to happy relationships. I think as we learn more online dating sites will continue to become better networking tools for applying knowledge of relationships. (nwithers)

Q; What is a major turn-off of online dating to dating singles? (nwithers)

A: Safety. This is because of users being able to lie in their profiles, and also from the fact that no criminal behavior questions are asked to create a profile, which results in people going on dates with potentially dangerous people. (murban)
