More on the idea of convergence: multitaskingThis is a featured page

So well all know that convergence is the coming together of different types of technologies such as computers and communication media. Everyone multitasks, but the question is, are we hurting ourselves be doing it? Do we become less efficient? Or do we multitask simply because we can?

Here is an article about multitasking, its actually the first link that comes up after serching it on Google and after the WIkipedia. http://www.apa.org/releases/multitasking.html

I know multitasking has been around for longer than i can even think, but the significance of it now is that its getting embedded into society. I mean, i can remember when i was in early middle school and i couldnt understand how some people could listen to their CD players and write their papers. They would also be having conversations with other people while doing this. To me i would always be like "wow that person is kinda smart bc they can do that", or something of that kind. But in todays society, youre pretty much a loser if you cant multitask, but it not because of that that youre a loser. Youre a loser because its so much easier to multitask now. The idea of convergence in todays world shows that things like AIM, cell phones, the internet, Microsoft Word, video streaming, can all be done at the same time. The reason is because of the digital capabilities of all these media.

So i think, the main reason people mulititask is because they CAN. Technology today is prety much telling people that they can do 34987289 things at once. (rsororian)
